Biography
Calvin Tjosaas is a dancer, choreographer, and educator currently based in Chicago, IL. He holds degrees in Interdisciplinary Dance Studies and Kinesiology from Cal Poly Humboldt and is currently a Doctor of Physical Therapy student at North Central College.
Though not always a dancer, Calvin has found joy in movement for as long as he can remember. As a high school student he stumbled into ballet, first as a supplement to his color guard training and then eventually as a passion in its own right. Since then, his personal movement practice has expanded to encompass a diverse range of modalities and styles, including Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Lindy Hop, Ballet Folklorico, West African, Improvisation, and Vogue. He has worked with choreographers such as Darryl Thomas, Faye Driscoll, and Jay Carlon, produced works for the stage and screen, and regularly attends conferences and trainings to improve his teaching practice, including intensives with Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company and Horton pedagogy study at The Ailey School.
Calvin looks forward to expanding his expertise as an artist, educator, and clinician in order to creatively engage with and support dancers through every stage of their career.
